Artist Reception, Friday, July 11, 6-9 p.m.
The Old Firehouse Art Center presents 'Brilliant and Quirky', an art exhibit bursting with vibrancy and uniqueness. The exhibit features new works by artists Sara Brown and Scott Church of Longmont and Jessica Gonacha of Georgia. Member's gallery is showing Jill Musser of Lyons. Their combined efforts promises to push the limits and intensify the viewing experience for an exceptional and fanciful display.
Brown uses acrylic paints in layers of transparency and then applies fabrics and paper scraps for an unusual and very original collage/painting. Church combines paint, composition, abstract and representation, organic flowers and other elements such as found objects, appropriated from advertising and old posters. His finished pieces create a dialog on what is inadvertently beautiful and thought provoking.
Gonacha delights in combining elements of conventional painting with the use of materials drawn from her childhood, such as glitter and origami paper. Her paintings are very spontaneous creations.
The Member's Gallery features the luscious oil paintings of Jill Musser. Her oil paintings of fruit, vegetables and flowers are large and colorfully vibrant. The thickness of the paint produces highly textured works leaving the viewer to feel as though the artist were sculpting and carving as well as painting.
Gallery hours during display are Monday through Friday, 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Saturdays from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. For further information call 303-651-2787
