Hip Hop for Middle School
Contributed by: Dennis DuBe on 4/8/2008

What:
Hip Hop is a very intense, high energy, pulsating dance that builds balance, strong muscles and endurance. In warm-up, students dance and learn the beat. In across-the-floor dance movement, they pop, lock, drop, glide, turn, body roll and do freestyle funk. Then we put the dance moves together into a Hip Hop routine! Wear comfortable clothing, sneakers or jazz (leather-soled) shoes, and bring water. This class is geared towards middle school kids ages 10-14. A Waiver must be signed by child's parent. Make-up classes available. Registration limited, sign up early.
Holly has been teaching dance for 20 years. She began classical ballet training at age 9 with Vera Nemtchinova, former Prima Ballerina with the Ballets Russes, and continued her dance studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School, Steamboat Springs. Between 1988 -1999, Holly danced with Ballet Northwest, and danced with and choreographed for Steamboat Dance Theatre. From 1990-1997, she taught Hip Hop, Jazz and Country Ballroom at Colorado Mountain College. Holly is also a Certified Yoga Instructor, Reiki Master, and LifeLine Technique? Practitioner. She teaches with love, passion and generosity of spirit. See: ShiningMountainYoga.com
