What:
Belly dance is over 3,000 years old. It celebrates life, birth and creativity; women, beauty and the female body. The powerful movements of the pelvis were rites of passage, passed from generation to generation. Belly Dance is a gift women gave to women, earthy and matriarchal, fluid and internal, emphasizing grace, power and control of the feminine form. Softness is what belly dancing is all about. Circles and spirals instead of corners and straight lines. Fluidity instead of rigidity. Soft and open, not cold and hard. A feminine strength in a world that is rushed and intense. Belly dancing is a healing experience that allows us to open to our true selves and express who we are on a level words cannot touch. This class inspires you to come out and play, no matter what age or body type you might be. Classes begin with stretching and basic technique. Then we explore fun combinations that allow you to discover unique ways to interpret the dance.
Christine Moore began studying Middle Eastern Dance at age 11. She has studied and performed many forms of dance over the years including jazz, modern and hip hop. She currently performs throughout the Front Range and has been teaching classes in Boulder and Longmont for the past 5 years at Longmont Free U, Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Dance, Core Movement Studio, Mosaic Movement Arts and A Place To Be. She enjoys taking many varied dance workshops to continue expanding and growing as a dancer. Christine loves to share this graceful dance that inspires confidence and self acceptance for women of all ages and body types. There is nothing as gratifying as watching students transform and discover their own natural beauty!
