OKTOBERFEST 2008
The annual Oktoberfest is a major fundraiser for the Longmont Symphony Orchestra. It is an outdoor musical festival with free entertainment provided. The Oktoberfest celebration will be held at the Roosevelt Park & Pavilion, located between 8 th Avenue and Longs Peak Avenue on Coffman Street in Longmont. The event opens to the public at 4 p.m. and closes at 10:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, September 5th and 6th, 2008.
This year's entertainment includes:
Friday, Sept. 5
Jim Ehrlich and the Polka Mates: 4:00-5:15 p.m.
The Fab Four: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The Groove Hawgs: 8:00-9:45 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 6
Jim Ehrlich and the Polka Mates: 4:00-5:15 p.m.
Lee Thomas Band: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Chris Daniels Band: 8:00-9:45 p.m.
Food vendors and sponsorship booths will be stationed under the large pavilion area, with a stage located in the grassy area south of the structure.
Past food vendors have included: Abbondanza Pizzeria, La Miraposa, The Mead Café, Oskar Blues, and Shorty's Pit BBQ. The Symphony also sells soda and hot pretzels.
Additionally, local breweries and other vendors provide beer and wine.
I.D. check is carefully monitored by trained volunteers. Only those with bracelets, issued to those of drinking age, will be served beer or wine. Patrons will not be allowed to bring alcohol into the event or to leave the event with alcohol.
An arts and crafts area will be available once again this year, open to craft vendors for a small fee.
