CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT (FALSTAFF) A NEW ADAPTAION BY LOCAL
DIRECTOR AND THEATRE INSTRUCTOR DAVE DAHL
Longmont Colorado July 4th 2008
A Taste of Shakespeare is the educational and outreach program of the
Longmont Theatre Company. A Taste of Shakespeare delivers Shakespearian
theater, with free performances, at locations up and down the Front Range.
Last year Taste of Shakespeare brought forth a new work combining Shakespeare
scenes, sonnets and Monologues and combining them with the Beatles in a show called
a Bard Days Night. This year Taste of Shakespeare continues creating new works with
CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT (Falstaff).
A Taste Of Shakespeare Presents CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT (Falstaff)Page 2
Chimes at Midnight condenses several of Shakespeare's plays (Richard II, Henry IV part1 and
2 and some of Henry V) Dahl has adapted the show to focus on Prince Hal as he grows into
adulthood.
The story is more than just a "history". It is a story about a young man and his two fathers. His
biological father that expects him to mature, become responsible and be ready to lead the nation.
The second "father" is Sir John Falstaff. Larger than life and delightfully played by veteran actor
John Thornberry. This is a rip-roaring rollicking tale, full of humour, slapstick, and swordfighting, as well as some of the most memorably dramatic lines Shakespeare ever put to paper. All shows are free of charge. We hope to see you there!!
