Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Young RYLA is a leadership training program sponsored by Rotary International that promotes, encourages and rewards outstanding young people.
Young RYLA is an all-expense paid five-day camp that brings together a special group of boys and girls from Northern Colorado, Wyoming and Western Nebraska to share ideas about becoming better leaders. It offers an action-packed program of activities that help build confidence and leadership skills (like problem solving games, challenge course, zip line, skits, group discussions and team-building activities).
It is open to students who are currently 7th graders in the St. Vrain Valley Schools, are interested in making new friends, would like a chance to meet and talk to other teens from different schools, have demonstrated leadership in their school, community or place of worship, and want to become better leaders.
It is located at the Ponderosa Retreat and Conference Center in Larkspur, CO July 27 through August 1, 2008.
Applications may be found at rmryla.org/apply_online.html and should be completed with a parent's assistance. An essay question must also be completed in order for the applicant to be considered.
The deadline is Friday, April 25, 2008. Applicants will be interviewed in Longmont between 4-7 p.m. on Wed., April 30 and will be notified in advance of their 10-minute interview time.
