Contributed by: brooke parkin on 6/5/2007

Boulder Ballet concludes it's 2006/2007 season with Sunday in the Park performed in three different locations. Free to the public - it is a wonderful way to start the summer season! The program will include classical and contemporary ballet, and modern dance. Starting June 17 - Broomfield Amphitheater, 24 June at the Bandshell in Downtown Boulder and concluding at the Adams County Regional Parkgrounds on July 1. All performances start at 7pm - weather permitting.

BOULDER, CO (June 2, 2007) Boulder Ballet Company is pleased to announce that we are offering three different viewing options for our annual "Sunday in the Park" performance. Boulder Ballet Executive Director Peter Davison explains, "We saw an opportunity for our company to perform in a unique setting. This also gives us the opportunity to introduce the art of ballet to the general public. Boulder Ballet has experienced enormous growth over the past two years. Our audience numbers continue to increase and we feel that it is important to thank the community for helping make this happen".

Featured will be a new work by Lance Hardin for six dancers, exploring the possibilities of solo dancing and partnering in innovative, athletic, and daring choreography. Ben Goodman, a Boulder Ballet company member who is moving to California after this season, will set his work "You and Me" on the company. Originally created for BB2, Boulder Ballet's junior company, this lyric-driven work set to music of Snow Patrol and the All American Rejects is truly ballet for today. Artistic Director Ana Claire re-works her dance "Country Spring," set to the music of mandolin virtuosos Chris Thiele and Mike Marshall. This ballet evokes a barn dance with swirling skirts, deft footwork and square- dance inspired partnering. The "Diane et Acteon Pas de Deux" will be the major classical showpiece of the evening, demonstrating the stylized drama of 19th century Russian classical choreography. Each dancer in the company will also perform solo dances, excerpted from classics such as "The Sleeping Beauty," "La Bayadere," "Le Corsaire" and "Don Quixote," as well as modern dance choreography by Kathryn Elliott of 3rd Law Dance /Theater.
