The somewhat true tale of Robin Hood
Contributed by: Chris Parr/Skyline Drama Club on 2/22/2008

What happens when you take one swashbuckling, egotistical super-hero on a quest to aid the needy, add one lovely damsel in distress who is obsessed with skin conditions, throw in a conniving sheriff who would rather bowl a strike (or bake bread) than hit a bull's eye, and mix it up with a bunch of spoon-wielding merry men whose collective IQ equals 6? You learn the true...eh, make that somewhat true...story of Robin Hood. Filled with good clean humor, hysterical puns and great one liners, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood tells the story it suggests. All the key components of the original Robin Hood are there, but this round a spunky narrator, referred to as the "Town's Girl," and a whiz of a technical director help to transform the play into a knee-slapping and engaging affair. It's written by self-proclaimed, Mary Lynn Dobson, who expertly weaves strands of Monty Python and jokes for all ages into this classic literary tale.

Out of Robin's own mouth comes the correct term for Skyline High School's production of The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood: "Yowza!" So, when asked if you want to take a romp through the famed Sherwood Forest, there's only one response needed: Sure would!

The cost of the show is $5 for students and senior citizens and $7 for adults. The performance dates are February 28 and 29 and March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Vance Brand Civic Auditorium (600 E. Mtn.View Ave., Longmont, CO 80501). Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. If you have any questions or want to reserve tickets, call (303) 651-0401.
