Rescuing disabled homeowners from foreclosure
Contributed by: Gaylia Harrell on 11/16/2007

The HOP, Home Ownership Preservation Center for the Disabled, a new nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization based in Boulder County, announced that The Greenlee Family Foundation has generously agreed to be the first Founding Funder of the organization. Their donation will be used to assist the HOP Center's Foreclosure Rescue Loan Program for Disabled Homeowners in Colorado.

"The HOP Center is offering a vital service to disabled individuals, including veterans, by providing rescue loans to allow those in a crisis to remain in their homes, said Rob Greenlee, Executive Director of the Greenlee Foundation, Lafayette, Colorado. "It is both cost effective and more humane to help these homeowners avoid foreclosure while they cope with a temporary financial crisis."

Rob Greenlee, Executive Director, presented a check for $5,000 to The HOP Center along with a commitment for an equal donation in 2008.

The HOP Center is the only organization focusing exclusively on the needs of disabled homeowners and those facing a temporary medical crisis. It offers financial assistance to disabled homeowners through its Foreclosure Rescue Loan (FRL) program for the Disabled, a fixed rate low interest loan. Clients are disabled homeowners who have the best chance of stabilizing their situation and repaying this hardship loan.

HOP will provide qualified clients with rescue loan funds to bring their mortgage payments current until they can stabilize their situation, remain in their homes and resume payments.

Bob and Diane Greenlee founded the Greenlee Family Foundation in 1996. The Foundation's mission is to encourage, preserve and promote the well-being, self-sufficiency, education, welfare and enlightenment of our fellow citizens by investing in creative people and ideas. Over the last decade the Greenlee Family Foundation has made contributions in excess of $1,000, 000 throughout Colorado.

The HOP Center for the Disabled assists disabled Colorado residents, including veterans and homeowners facing temporary disability caused by a life threatening medical crisis, such as cancer or an injury. The HOP Center has partnered with Brothers Redevelopment, Inc., the lead agency for the Colorado Foreclosure Prevention Hotline, Boulder County Housing Authority's Housing Counseling Program, The HERO Alliance and the Legal Center for People with Disabilities for referrals of disabled homeowners in need. The HOP Center does not accept direct applications and all loans are conditional on availability of funds.
