Low- back pain sufferers are jumping for joy over new technology

By Dr. Tom Stanzel, D.C.

Longmont, CO-There's new hope for low back pain and sciatic suffers. It's a state-of-the-art technology called non-surgical spinal decompression. The technology was developed by a team of physicians who modeled the system after an accidental discovery from the US space exploration program. It's being called the "Orthopedic advancement of the Century" and is the answer to many low back pain suffers prayers.

Spinal Decompression (DRX 9000) is a non-surgical non-invasive therapy which has been shown to decompress the disc space and reduce the size of the disc bulge/herniation. It works by combining proven scientific principles with the latest technological advancements.

The automated system they developed ( DRX 9000) has the capability of decompressing discs by creating a "vacuum" effect which actually sucks disc material back into the disc, allowing it to heal. The result is relief of pressure on the spinal nerves.

Over 62 million Americans that suffer with disc herniations and severe low back pain or sciatica may be encouraged by one of the most promising non-surgical treatments for low back pain in years.

The non-surgical spinal decompression system that was developed (the DRX 9000) has been FDA cleared and shown to be successful for most debilitating back conditions including:

  • Low Back Pain
  • Herniated and/ or bulging discs (single or multiple)
  • Sciatica
  • A relapse or failure following surgery
  • Degenerative disc disease (Arthritis)
  • Facet Syndromes
  • Chronic low back pain

Non-surgical spinal decompression can be successful...even if other options have all failed (like pain management, physical therapy, Chiropractic, or surgery), regardless of age. Although results can vary from individual to individual, recent studies indicate a high success rate for manylow back pain conditions, including sciatica.

Typical treatment plans vary from individual to individual based on the severity of your condition, your age, and a few other clinical factors. However, the most common tested treatment protocol is 20 sessions over a 5 week period. Before, during and after, patients' progress are monitored. Patients receive computerized testing so results and treatment goals can be measured and quantified. This gives them a chance to see their progress and the doctors a chance to chart the patient's overall improvement and clinical results.

Here's what a typical decompression (DRX 9000) session is like. After being fitted with an automatic shoulder support system, you simply lie face up on the DRX 9000's comfortable bed and the advanced computer system does the rest. Patients feel a gentle, painless, rhythmic pulling and then release. Many patients actually fall asleep during therapy. Treatments usually last 30 minutes.

The really good news is that this is not something you have to continue to do for the rest of your life, so it's not a big commitment. In fact, promising new research shows less than a 4% re-occurrence rate for people who have received treatment.

Here are some of the benefits that people who receive non-surgical spinal decompression are experiencing:

· Re-hydration of disc material (as shown on MRI).

· Reduction or elimination of pain completely

· Dramatic improvement in joint mobility

· Reduction of muscle spasm

· Improvement in flexibility and range of motion

· Improvement in daily activities and function

After a patient's program is completed, a progress evaluation is performed, documenting improvement, and recommendations are given which include a core exercise stabilization exercise program that can be done at home. This helps to strengthen the abdominal and low back muscles, which stabilize the spine and prevent re-injury. This has been shown to be one of the most important steps to being pain free permanently.
