Woman's death ruled a homicide

On Dec. 10, 2007, officers of the Longmont Police Department were called to an unattended death at 325 15th Avenue Apartment #22. There, the body of a 45 year-old female was discovered. Based on the circumstances of the death and the condition of the deceased, detectives were called to the scene and began an immediate investigation.

Over the course of the last month, detectives with the Longmont Police Department have investigated this death as questionable and suspicious, while the Boulder County Coroner's Office completed their investigation regarding the cause and manner of death. Recently, the Boulder County Coroner's Office concluded their investigation and ruled the manner of death as a homicide.


The victim has been identified as Dana Jo Pechin, a resident at 325 15th Avenue, Apt. #22. The investigation conducted thus far has determined that Ms. Pechin sustained significant injuries sometime between Saturday evening, December 8th and Sunday, December 9th. She was then found deceased in her apartment on Monday, December 10th at approximately 5:15 PM.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives have interviewed approximately 75 people, canvassed the area around the victim's residence, conducted an area search for evidence, collected and viewed video surveillance tapes from multiple locations, and executed search warrants and/or court orders. The police investigation is continuing.

The Longmont Police Department is requesting anybody who saw the victim, Dana Pechin on the weekend of December 8th or witnessed a disturbance or assault in the area of 15th and Emery Street that weekend, to contact the Longmont Police, Detective Division at 303-651-8523.
