Contributed by: Longmont Police on 3/17/2008

A 21-year-old Longmont man was arrested at 9:29 p.m. March 11 on the 1900 block of Meadow Drive on suspicion of first-degree assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury and reckless endangerment. Officers were called to a home for a medical assist. When they arrived, the victim was standing outside of the building and told police that he had been shot in the neck with a BB gun. The man was bleeding profusely from his neck. When they went into the residence, they contacted a woman who told them the victim had been inside the residence earlier. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he identified the man who shot him. He also told police he had been inside the building sitting on a couch when the man loaded his BB gun, pointed it at him and shot him after they had an argument. When contacted later at the residence, the man told police the gun just went off and that he didn't mean to shoot the victim. He was held at the Boulder County Jail.

A 19-year-old Longmont man was arrested at K-Mart, 2151 Main St., at 5:09 p.m. March 11 on suspicion of theft. An officer responded to a shoplifting call. When he arrived at the store, the security guard told the officer that he witnessed the man take boots off of the shelf, put them on his feet and then put his own boots inside of the box, placing it back on the shelf. The man told police that he did it because of "stupidity" and "because he needed them." The man was booked and released on a summons.

A 29-year-old Longmont man was arrested on the 1700 block of Duchess Street at 8:27 p.m. March 10 on suspicion of domestic violence, third-degree assault and child abuse. Officers were dispatched to a domestic violence call at the residence. A woman inside told them that while she was cleaning the kitchen, her son was screaming on the floor, begging her for a carrot. The man came into the kitchen and slapped the boy in the face. The woman then picked the child up and consoled him, telling him, "Daddy is stupid." After saying that, the man then slapped her across the face. She ran from him, but he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her approximately five feet in the bathroom. The man denied hitting anyone, but was held at the Boulder County Jail anyway.

A 54-year-old Longmont man was arrested in Longmont at 6:46 p.m. March 9 on suspicion of child abuse, third-degree assault, harassment, domestic violence and second-degree assault. Officers responding to a domestic violence call at a residence contacted a 15-year-old girl in the front yard who told them about the abuse. She said that she had asked the man if he could take her to dinner at a restaurant, but he told her no because she still had chores to do. The girl then slammed the door behind her and damaged the door jam. The man then grabbed the girl by the throat, choking her. The girl's mother then began to hit the man to get him off the girl. The man then turned his attention to the woman, punching her repeatedly. When contacted, the man admitted to being drunk. He was held at the Boulder County Jail.

A 28-year-old Longmont man was arrested at 1:49 p.m. March 8 on the 600 block of Grandview Meadows Drive for a FTA warrant out of Garfield County on a larceny charge. Police received a tip that the man was at a Longmont apartment. When they knocked on the door, no one answered, but later the man's girlfriend came out with her dog and told them the man was inside. She also gave a key to the officers. When they attempted to enter the apartment, the man was looking through the peephole. He later told them he didn't come out because he was in pain from eluding police the night before by jumping off his balcony. He was held at the Boulder County Jail.
