Sex offender sells brownies door-to-door
A 46-year-old Longmont man was arrested for first-degree criminal trespassing and for failure to appear for a parole officer. At 7:40 a.m. July 30, an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Bowen Street in reference to a suspicious man selling brownies door-to-door, who was later identified as a registered sex offender. When the officer arrived, the reporting party said that a man rang her doorbell and when she got to the door, he was standing inside the front entry of her house. The man complimented her home's color scheme and asked if she wanted to buy a brownie. She told the man to leave. The man left and when the woman went to call the police, she noticed the man at her neighbor's house talking to a young boy. The man was later arrested and taken to the Boulder County Jail.
Man busted for selling cocaine
A 49-year-old Longmont man was arrested in Longmont on Aug. 1 for conspiring to distribute drugs and for three counts of child abuse. Several confidential informants told police about a Longmont residence where cocaine was being sold. Officers investigating illegal narcotics sales saw several narcotics transactions during a July 31 surveillance of the home. A man in possession of 3 grams of cocaine was arrested and so was the man who sold it to him. On Aug. 1 when officers gained a warrant to search the home, they found white residue, believed to be cocaine and torn plastic bags consistent with bags used to distribute cocaine. The wallet belonging to the 49-year-old who was arrested at the house was found with cocaine in it and $1,052 in cash. Officers also found three bindles of cocaine near the toilet. The arrestee had attempted flushing the cocaine.
Aunt likely upset with nephew
A 29-year-old Longmont man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and for violating parole at 10:21 p.m. Aug. 2 at the intersection of Atwood Street and Fifth Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the area in regard to a man who hit a curb, drove off the road and stopped near the train tracks. Airbags on the driver and passenger sides were imploded. The male and female in the car at the time of the accident both accused the other of driving. The man who was arrested had red marks on his wrist consistent to an airbag imploding. The man failed roadside maneuvers and blew a .154 percent on a breathalyzer test. The car was registered in his aunt's name. Witnesses said they heard the man say, "My aunt's going to kill me for this."
Even with false identity, still has warrant
At 10:33 p.m. Aug. 5 a 33 year-old Longmont man was arrested for criminal impersonation, driving with a revoked license, no proof of insurance, failure to appear in court and driving without his headlights on. An officer at 900 Main St. saw a car turn on Main St. and head northbound without it's headlights on. The car was pulled over and the man gave a name and birth date that did not match any records, although the officer found a man with the same name who had a warrant out for his arrest in Weld County. The man then supplied a Colorado identification with a different name and birth date on it. When the officer checked records, he found the man had two warrants out for his arrest, one in which, the man needed to spend 10 days in jail. The man was taken to the Longmont Police Department, booked and transported to Boulder County Jail.
Hit and run by a drunk woman
A 57-year-old Longmont woman was arrested for careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident after damaging another vehicle, a DUI and possessing an illegal weapon. At approximately 8:53 p.m. Aug. 2 an officer observed a car hit another car and take off. The officer chased the car until Emery Street and Third Avenue where it stopped in a parking lot. When officers asked if the woman in the car knew why she was being pulled over, she said, "no." She denied hitting the car. The woman was unsteady and said she drank a court of beer. She blew a .150 on a breathalyzer test. She had two prior DUI's in Nebraska. She was booked and taken to the Boulder County Jail.
