WOMAN WRITES $28K IN BAD CHECKS
A 47-year-old Longmont woman was arrested at 4:45 p.m. March 19 on suspicion of theft, fraud by closed checking account and an outstanding warrant. Police were dispatched to New Frontier Bank, 2315 Main St., after the woman opened a checking account and after two days had overdrawn it by $5,500 before closing it. The woman wrote 122 bad checks to businesses and individuals totaling $28,161, which she is in the process of paying back. She purchased a used Audi with a bad check. She was booked at the Longmont Police Department and then taken to Boulder County Jail.


MAN STEALS RADIO FROM WRONG WOMAN
A 31-year-old Longmont man was arrested at 9:31 p.m. March 29 on the 1100 block of Main Street on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass and theft. Police were dispatched to Walgreens, 1041 Main St., to a theft in progress. A woman and her family came out of Walgreens and saw a man in the front seat of their car stealing their $200 radio. The suspect took off running and the woman followed on foot. The suspect dropped the radio and kept running. He was found at a Mexican restaurant. The man said he hadn't been to Walgreens, but he was caught on surveillance tape and had a Walgreens receipt in his pocket. The woman who chased him identified him as the suspect. A restaurant employee said the man had two beers earlier that evening and left without paying. The man, who was on probation for felony menacing and extremely intoxicated, was taken to Boulder County Jail.

COP NOTICES MAN NOT DRESSED FOR WEATHER
An 18-year-old man was arrested at 12:37 a.m. March 20 at Horizon Parkway and Sand Dollar Drive on suspicion of selling marijuana, marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession and underage possession/consumption of alcohol. The man was contacted by police staggering down the road, wearing just a T-shirt and pants when the temperature was 37 degrees. The officer asked the man if he was OK and the man started crying. He said he was scared and cold and didn't know where he was. He said he had smoked weed with his girlfriend and driven around, but his girlfriend left him. He told the officer the last place he remembers was being by Centennial Park, which is across town from where the man was. During a search of the man's backpack, police found a scale and 15.5 grams of marijuana, that looked like it was packaged for sale. The man was taken to Boulder County Jail.
