BURGLARIES UP IN AREA, TEENS BUSTED
Two 17-year-old Longmont teenagers were arrested at 12:53 a.m. April 8 at the intersection of Beech Circle and Cypress Street on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass, theft and possession of burglary tools. Patrol was increased in the area because of an increase in the amount of break-ins reported. On April 8, an officer spotted the teens standing near a car on Beech Circle. The teens were wearing gloves, but it wasn't cold and there usually isn't much pedestrian traffic in the area. The officer was suspicious and questioned the teens. The teens said they were walking to one of the teen's girlfriend's house, but then a female exited the car they were standing by and identified herself as the girlfriend. The officer found knives on both teen boys when they were searched. In the car, several flashlights, binoculars, a screwdriver and the stolen GPS system were found. The teen boys said one of them burglarized cars as the other one played lookout. They were taken to Boulder County Juvenile Detention Center. The underage female was issued summonses on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana and a curfew violation.
