BURGLAR PASSES OUT INSTEAD OF STEALING
A 37-year-old Longmont man was arrested after he allegedly tried to break into a residence and then was found passed out in a shed in the back yard of the residence. Police were dispatched at 3:41 a.m. May 2 to the 200 block of Terry Street. The reporting party said the man knocked on his back door and when he went to answer it, the man was gone, but the door was broken above the lock, as if the man was trying to break in. The man was found by police sleeping in a shed in the back yard. He appeared to be extremely intoxicated. The man was taken to Boulder County Jail.

EMPLOYEE SUSPECTED OF STEALING $8K
A 44-year-old Longmont woman was arrested at 8 p.m. April 29 at Twin Peaks Liquor, 999 S. Hover St., on suspicion of theft. The liquor store owner noticed a shortage of wine and more cash register refunds than usual. The woman, who works at the store, was caught on surveillance camera processing fraudulent cash refunds to herself for high-end liquor and wine totaling more than $8,000 over a year span. She was taken to Boulder County Jail.

JUVENILES ARRESTED FOR CHOPPING TREE
A 16-year-old Longmont juvenile was arrested on suspicion of chopping down a tree with a hatchet at 7:20 p.m. May 3 at Lou Miller Park, 11th Avenue and Park Sumner Street. Police were dispatched on a report that several juveniles were chopping down the tree. Police contacted four juveniles, one of whom had a hatchet in his pocket. The teen said the tree was already leaning and he just cut it down the rest of the way. The estimated damage was $300. The teen was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon and criminal mischief. Another juvenile also was arrested. Both were taken to the Boulder County Juvenile Center.

TRAINS ORDERED TO STOP AFTER ACCIDENT
A 30-year-old Superior woman was arrested after she crashed her car into a railroad crossing arm at 2:06 a.m. May 6 on the 1500 block of South Hover Street. The woman said she had been drinking all night and crashed into the railroad crossing arm, which sheared off, with the biggest piece covering her car. Police called Burlington Northern to stop all trains because debris was blocking the tracks. The woman's car wasn't on the tracks, but she couldn't open the driver's side door after the accident. She told police she didn't want to crawl out the passenger side because she was embarrassed. The woman, who refused medical treatment, blew a .193 on a Breathalyzer test. She was taken to the Longmont Police Department for booking and then released to a sober party.
