Thief won't give up easily
A 42-year-old Brighton man was arrested at 7:17 p.m. May 8 at the intersection of Second Avenue and Coffman Street on suspicion of theft, second-degree criminal trespass and criminal attempt. Police were dispatched to Home Budget Center, 780 Boston Ave., on a report that a shoplifter was fleeing on foot and being chased by store employees. The police caught him climbing a fence. The man said he had no idea why the store employees were chasing him. An $800 power set that the man ditched was found nearby and other stolen items were found in his car. The store manager had earlier that evening told the man he wasn't welcome in the store after employees saw him hiding power tools totaling $3,000 in a trash can in the back of the store. The man returned 45 minutes later and took off with the power set. He was taken to Boulder County Jail.
Home intruder leads to drug arrest
A 23-year-old Longmont woman was arrested at 8:17 a.m. May 9 on the 1100 block of Lincoln Street on suspicion of possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine. Police were dispatched on a possible home invasion after the 23-year-old texted her friend that two people were in her house without permission. When police arrived the 23-year-old was visibly upset and yelling at a group of males at the house. She wasn't coherent when police interviewed her. She appeared to be on drugs or alcohol. She told police she had done methamphetamine earlier and pulled a baggie of it out of her bra. She said she overheard two the men talking about how a lot of drug dealers had been arrested lately and that the 23-year-old might be a snitch because her dad is a police officer. She told police at 10:45 a.m. that day she was going to be confronted by a group of drug dealers. She was taken to Boulder County Jail.
Domestic dispute ends in man, woman's arrest
A 23-year-old Longmont woman was arrested at 1:09 a.m. May 12 at Longmont United Hospital, 1950 Mountain View Ave., on suspicion of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. Suspecting a domestic violence incident, a nurse called police about the woman, who had a black eye. The woman would not talk to the police officer. The officer learned about a domestic violence call involving the woman on May 10 on the 00-99 block of Third Avenue. It was not the first domestic violence call to the residence. A 32-year-old Longmont man was unresponsive when police arrived. There were pills surrounding him and he had been stabbed with a butter knife in the hand. The man said a woman who he was intimate with stabbed him. He said the woman was a "psycho" and he said, "She will hunt you down and kill you. She will kill your family." The man also was arrested at the hospital because there was a protection order against him. He was taken to Boulder County Jail. Additional charges might be added because of the pills found in the apartment.
