Longmont Police
If the story smells fishy, it probably is
A 24-year-old Longmont man was arrested earlier this month after his girlfriend allegedly fell out of his car and he persuaded her to make up a story so he wouldn't get in trouble. Police were dispatched to an apartment on the 2400 block of Airport Road where they found a woman lying on the floor in intense pain. The woman said she was at a party and got a ride home with men she didn't know. She said she asked the driver to pull over because his driving scared her. She said the driver slowed down and she thought he was going to stop so she opened the door. The driver didn't stop and she fell out. The woman said she called her boyfriend who came and picked her up. Police immediately thought the story was suspicious because the woman's phone was laying on the ground next to her in pieces. Police checked the boyfriend's phone, which didn't have any calls from the girlfriend. The woman was taken to Longmont United Hospital and treated for severe road burn. When her boyfriend wasn't in the hospital room, she started crying and apologized to police for lying. She said the real story was she was with her boyfriend who was driving recklessly. When she opened the door to get out, he sped up so she couldn't close the door. He made a quick turn at the intersection of Horizon Parkway and Northshore Drive and she fell out. She said she begged him to call police, but instead he took her home and came up with a story before calling police. The boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, failure to give information/aid at an injury/death accident, failure to notify police/return to the accident, vehicular assault - operating a motor vehicle under the influence, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, intimidating a witness or victim, domestic violence and DUI.
