Calling all used bikes
Contributed by: Cindy Kidwell on 10/12/2008

Used bikes - it's time to come rolling in to be donated for the annual bike giveaway of the Holiday Giving Program!! You can be brought to High Gear Cyclery, 504 Main Street,or Bike-N-Hike, 1136 Main Street, in Longmont. Here, they will be refurbished for children living within the St. Vrain Valley School District. These two bike shops have volunteered their time to spruce up bikes for many years. If your owner has outgrown you or doesn't have time to use you any more, please come rolling in for a new home!

Many students need bikes not only for fun and exercise, but also as a means of transportation to and from school. Each child receives a properly-sized helmet once they have chosen their bike.

The bike giveaway will be held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds on December 18th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

If you don't have a used bike and would still like to help with the purchase of helmets and/or bike parts, you can send your tax-free donation to: St. Vrain Community Council, P.O. Box 2261, Longmont, CO 80502-2261.Write "bikes" in the comment line of your check.

This is a wonderful program. It brings such delight to many young boys and girls who walk away with their first bike. Keep up the good work.
