Longmont [Change Location]

God forbid

Recalling the statement, "Desperate times call for desperate measures," it has never been more true than it is for the McCain-Palin presidential campaign. With the first Hail Mary pass of the appointment of Sarah Palin flat lining because of her complete incompetence to lead anywhere but into a ditch, now McCain is making a last, dare I say, ditch effort to postpone debating Barack Obama and in the process eliminate entirely a vice presidential debate between Biden and Palin. Now that's the mother of all Hail Mary's.

While politicians of all varieties keep falling all over themselves in praise of McCain's Vietnam service and sacrifice. I've silently (until now) feared for the world's safety should he actually be elected. No one can spend five years as a POW enduring physical and mental torture and come through that kind of experience without severe, lifelong psychological damage. No such person should be anywhere near the nuclear button. Such a person can continue to serve his/her nation in any number of capacities, but never in a life or death arena and never as a final "decider."

Now the question of competence is so paramount that one has to question whether McCain would be channeling Ronald Reagan as a White House occupant with early Alzheimer's disease. The footage appearing on any number of channels showing the man's stumbling and bumbling, his inability to discuss any subject--including foreign affairs--with substance, accuracy and judgment assures that if McCain does win, it will not be McCain running the country.

The religious fundamentalists will be saying their prayers, talking in tongues, and who can imagine what other endeavors in hopes that McCain won't fulfill a first term. They will have someone even better in charge than King George; they will have Queen Sarah, sitting at the right hand of---something.

Having lived through the tortuous Bush administration and reflected on all other administrations of my lifetime, I could not imagine a worse presidency than given us by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Now I know that much worse could befall this nation. And that is a John McCain/Sarah Palin presidency controlled from behind the scenes by such organizations as Club for Growth, Council for National Policy, and Americans for Tax Reform. (Come to think of it, these groups and their members and acolytes are already running the show. Only next time, with an even more incompetent White House, they will flex their muscles more intensely.) A McCain/Palin administration would offer up Phil Gramm as Secretary of the Treasury and who knows how many others who claim to be humans but who's humanity is grossly in doubt.

In war it is said that there are no atheists in the trenches. World, we are in the trenches.

Guess what Doug, you're wrong (again) I don't know, and would rather not know. How is what LR did any more slanderous (libelous technically) than what you do, and continue to? Your libeling me right now accusing me of knowing someone who libeled you, as usual without a shred of proof (as it doesn't exist). How about that Firestone/Union vote? 58-41, that's too bad.

No, they're not close to me at all. A friend? More of an acquaintance. Haven't seen 'um in 6 months and I'm guessing Longmont report will be removed as soon as the registration expires since they're too busy with other business now to dedicate anytime to local politics. And I've been slandered by you, your wife, Bing, Kaye and a whole host of others who did so anonymously but I still refer to you all with your proper names. Just because I don't respect someone's political or religious views doesn't mean I need to stoop to schoolyard name calling and condescending tones to try and make people think I'm better than they are.

Funny, I'm pretty sure that was Obama speaking during the DNC when his own daughter had to prompt him to rethink where he was after giving the wrong location. Marilyn, I give you the respect of using your given name and I'd appreciate the same, otherwise the disrespect you show, for someone you've never even met make YOU look bad, not me (just giving you that friendly little piece of advice).

Stephanie, the only whiny mutants around here are those who gave this story 5 stars and its writer. They apparently want their favorite politicians to give away our money to feather the liberal progressive nests and their own pockets with all the public money they can steal. They must be among Obama’s 45% who don’t pay income taxes and will get a cash payoff for voting for Obama in graft concealed as “tax refund”, unless they are Obama “middle class” who make over $250,000 a year.

Stephie, McCain isn't courageous at all, but a whiny, mutant. He doesn't even know where he is half the time. He is showing signs of dementia every time he speaks. He can't get elected and won't get elected. He wouldn't remember where the white house was anyway. He couldn't possibly be president. DC? My limo? Don't know anything about it. Cindy, Cindy who.

That's the best Stephanie can do? McCain's town hall forum suggestion? Your guys got bigger issues, I don't blame you from trying to change the subject.

You mean that wasn't Tammy Faye in that interview? My bad. I agree!! Oh my God.

After watching Sarah Palin’s interview with Katie Couric all I have to say is Oh My God!! After seeing that performance and realizing she would be one 72 year old heart beat away from the presidency of a man who would be 76 after his first term ---- all I have to say is that prospect should frighten every man woman and child in this country. That is what would be leading our nation in times of international upheaval and severe economic crisis. If the voters of this country put us in that position then we deserve everything that happens to us and more. OH MY GOD!!!!

Funny how when McCain called repeatedly for townhall forums, Obama balked. Now that the first debate is upon is and the country's financial future is in limbo, McCain does the responsible thing and calls for suspension of his campaign so he can do the duty for which he was elected. Obama on the otherhand wanted to continue with the debate as planned, and ignore the current climate. It's a concrete example of one candidate who acts and another who only talks. When choosing who to vote for, I'll take a man of action over a man of words anyday!

Brian, indeed it's a small world. Someday we should get together. Is there a way to reach you?
