I love the Colorado Rockies because they have been instrumental in the wonderful direction my life has gone in the last 18 years. I moved to Colorado in 1990 a little before the Rockies arrived. Looking back now, I don't think that either the Rockies or I would be here if it were not for the other. By that, I have to explain. I came to Colorado with the idea that the real estate market was about to explode. Colorado real estate was coming off a severe depression but, Denver had just finished building the Convention Center, the airport was in the works, and most importantly for me, Major League Baseball was considering expansion into Denver. Having grown up in Southern California and following the Dodgers, I already had a great love for the game of baseball. My thoughts of real estate made me realize that baseball brings awareness to a region through the repetition of daily news reports that is unlike the Broncos, where the town is only spotlighted on selected Sundays throughout the winter. If Denver got a baseball team I was sure my idea of a booming real estate market would become a reality.
I had not yet moved here but, while I was here scouting the area I read an article run by the Rocky Mountain News about starting a season ticket drive to prove to Major League Baseball, that Denver would support a team. I knew then, that I wanted to be a part of what I saw as something very big. Right then, I pledged $100 for two season tickets as part of the season ticket drive.
We now know that the Rockies did come to Colorado. As I had predicted, the Rockies and the beauty of Colorado were highlighted around the country through other team's broadcasts of away games and nightly evening news. Denver International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country.
Not coincidentally, real estate in Colorado boomed for 15 years unlike almost any other region in the nation. So you see the Rockies were a big reason for my moving here.
Oh, and that season ticket drive? Well, that was noted by Major League Baseball executives as one of the biggest reasons Denver got a franchise over St. Petersburg, Buffalo, or Washington D.C. So I like to think that I was little part of the reason that Major League Baseball is now represented in Colorado.
Of course it is no wonder that I love the Rockies. The Rockies helped create a destiny for me that I had dreamed of.
I made decisions about my business and life on the likelihood that Colorado would get a Major League franchise. Because of those decisions I have been to every Opening Day, final regular season game, no-hitter, All Star game and playoff game in the history of the Rockies and I have a thriving real estate practice. What could be better?
