Milton Reid from Boulder holds up a 10 1/2 lbs. channel catfish he caught at Union Reservoir in Longmont on May 25.
The catfish measured at 28 1/4 inches.

Reid used bloodbait to land the whopper. The Boulder resident said he was fishing from the shore when he watched his rod nearly dissappear into the lake.

"I just had my rod sitting on a rock and it slammed it one time and took it down," Reid described.

Reid said he rescued his rod just in time and reeled in the fish.
