Heritage sweeps soccer league in the playoffs

The 2008 Spring City of Longmont St. Vrain Middle School Soccer League has come to an end. Heritage Middle School swept the playoffs earning first place in both JV and Varsity divisions.

After regular season ended the Heritage Varsity and JV teams were both seeded in third place. The varsity team defeated the 2007 defending champions, Sunset, in the first round of playoffs and then moved on to defeat Coal Ridge and finally Longs Peak in the Championship match.

The Heritage JV team defeated Longs Peak and won the championship when Coal Ridge Middle School JV forfeited at the last minute.

During the varsity championship match held at Sandstone Ranch, Heritage came on the field ready to play and stunned Longs Peak with a goal in the first 3 minutes and another one within the first 5 minutes. Longs Peak never gained control after the first two goals and Heritage won 5-1.

Both, Heritage JV and Varsity, teams are coached by Heritage teachers, Jorge Garcia and Melissa Kolm.
