The Donnanator Report
My favorite article topics have been soccer and healthcare issues related to my profession. I'm likely to keep focusing on those, and throw in social commentary and satire as necessary. There are plenty of health, nutrition and food behaviors just screaming for the kind of commentary possible with a blog, and who better to write those than a nutrition professional? I'm a big proponent of taking personal responsibility for health, and that philosophy will definitely influence my analysis of healthcare and health insurance issues. As for soccer, I've written about high school soccer, because that's what makes for good headlines, but clearly mainstream news organizations in the US need to improve coverage and analysis of all soccer, from local clubs to the World Cup.

During the past few weeks, I've spent a lot of time in the Colorado high country. Lest you think Colorado is one state, here's The Morning Report:
High Country: COOOLLLDD! Avalanche danger, passes closed, passes open, zero degrees, vote for your favorite bar, grocery store's out of bread and milk. No worries, there's beer. Icy roads, drive carefully, skiers missing ...
Front Range:
Britney
,
Jamie Lynn
, streets aren't plowed - waaa! Broncos, Jamie Lynn, celebrity chefs, celebrity diets, celebrities celebrities celebrities. Iraq. News flash: Life is dangerous! Lead in toys! Don't eat toys!
NPR (disguised as Colorado Public Radio): ....We're so special. .... We're smarter than you, we live in the Northeast. If it happens west of the Hudson, it doesn't matter..... We're so special, we know how you should think. Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq. We invented Politically Correct.....New England is the center of the universe.... We're really smart. We have the right opinions, we all drive Priuses. OH MY GOD! It snowed an inch in Washington D.C! D.C. Shut Down! Emergency! Traffic at a standstill! Accidents! Prius stuck in 4 inch snowbank! Our comfortable lives are ruined!
Front Range: Broncos, roads aren't perfect - waaa! celebrities celebrities celebrities. (shhh -- taxes, presidential election). Life is dangerous! Life is unpredictable! Waa!
High Country: White out! Back country avalanche danger - extreme! Roads not plowed, whatever. Pow Day! Vote for your favorite burgers. Party Ice Snow Beer Ski Fest all day everyday. Rail Jam, bump clinic. Passes closed again, snowmobilers lost. Chain law, avalanche blasting delays. Seen a Prius? Naa, not since mid-December, must be in a snowbank somewhere.
