Brian St. John, Timberline Symphony Orchestra's music director,
is celebrating his 10 th season with Timberline Symphony. The
2005-2006 season has had the theme of Brian's 10 th year throughout
the concert series. Every regular concert so far has featured one
piece that was performed in Brian's inaugural year. In the Oct 2005
concert, Timberline performed Dvorak's Symphony No. 6. This was
followed by the Nov 2005 concert featuring Beethoven's Symphony No.
5 and then the March 2006 concert had Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5.
All these pieces were performed in Brian's first year and again in
this 10 th season. As a gift to the Orchestra, Brian St. John
composed his first piano concerto and honored Timberline with its
premiere performance in March 2006. Also this season Timberline
brought back the beloved Christmas favorite Tchaikovsky's
Nutcracker Ballet.
Throughout the 10 years under Brian St. John, Timberline
Symphony has experienced tremendous growth. The orchestra started
by having four classical concerts a season. Now Timberline performs
four concerts per season along with a family concert, the
Nutcracker Ballet and free outdoor summer concerts. Brian has also
brought in local and nationally known guest artists for our
audience's enrichment. Collaborations with other organizations have
also been a part of Brian's 10 years as Timberline has performed
with organizations such as the Boulder Choral, the Longmont Dance
Theatre, the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts and the Golden
Concert Choir.
The final performance of Brian's 10 th season with Timberline
will be the very famous Beethoven Symphony No. 9 "Ode To Joy".
Timberline will be performing this with the Golden Concert Choir on
April 29, 2006 at Monarch High School's Auditorium at 7:30pm. There
will also be a silent auction at that perform to help raise funds
for the orchestra. Brian has always wanted to conduct Beethoven's 9
th Symphony and has chosen this very special occasion (the final
performance of his 10 th anniversary season) to bring this beloved
piece to Timberline's audience. Timberline would like to welcome
everyone to this special celebration of Brian's 10 th season and to
enjoy Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in a live performance.
