If you're looking for a fun exhibit to go to this summer, be sure to stop by the Louisville Art Association's 18th National Juried Photography Show, on display at the Louisville Center for the Arts from June 27 to July 5.
The exhibit includes photographs from Colorado and the West, as well as entries from all over the United States. Over 500 entries were received this year and Juror Larry Padgett had a challenging time choosing the final images.
"The images I chose for this exhibition hopefully represent fresh and creative interpretations of old ideas, and exceptional expressions of new themes," Padgett stated.
Padgett is the founder and former executive director of the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins. An international nonprofit organization, the Center promotes the art of photography and provides programs that foster the growth of creative artists. During his tenure, he provided venues and a voice for artists from more than 25 countries, hosting more than 60 exhibitions, while publishing three collections. His personal work has been in both commercial photography and fine art portraiture.
He also continues to be an advocate for the art of photography. Padgett has a passion for helping artists succeed in their pursuit of exhibiting, publishing and selling their work. He believes that, "photographers represent the truest entrepreneurial spirit - creating from intangible concepts, art forms that express the soul of their creator."
The Opening Reception for the show will be on Saturday, June 27, from 7-9 pm, at the Louisville Center for the Arts, 801 Grant Avenue, near Memory Square Park, Louisville. Stop by to see the spectacular photos, enjoy the food and music, and have fun at another wonderful community event in Louisville. It is free and open to the public.
The Photography Show will be open during the following hours: Sunday, June 28, 2-6pm; M, T, W, Th, Fri., 5-7 pm; Sat., July 4, 10-5pm; and Sun., July 5, 12-4 pm. For additional information, consult the web site at
