Louisville PoliceMan says he drinks and drives often
A 57-year-old Louisville man was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, a DUI driving with a blood alcohol level of more than .08 and failure to report an accident at approximately 5 p.m. Dec. 28 at the intersection of South Boulder Road and Highway 42. Police were dispatched about a blue car that ran off the road and crashed through a fence. Originally the driver stayed put in his car, but then took off. A witness followed him as he drove erratically and almost hit several cars. When police located him, he seemed confused. The man said he only had one drink. He said he had been in an accident but couldn't remember it. His car smelled like chicken and the man said he had just gone to Kentucky Fried Chicken in Lafayette. He originally said he'd perform a sobriety test, but then said, "Just forget it. Just get on with it. I'm drunk." The man has an extensive history of DUIs. He said he drives drunk all the time and know he'd eventually be caught. He was taken to the police station.
Woman blames accident on dog
A 32-year-old Louisville woman was arrested on suspicion of careless driving, DUI and driving with a blood alcohol level of more than .08 at approximately 9:02 p.m. Dec. 25 on the 1400 block of Main Street. Police were dispatched after a man's rented parked car was sideswiped. The woman who did it said the dog she was taking car of jumped into the front seat causing her to swerve. The woman appeared intoxicated. She said she had two glasses of wine and brandy an hour before driving. She failed a sobriety test and was taken to the Longmont Police Department where she blew a .168 on a Breathalyzer test. She was released to a sober party.
