Blotter: Body found after fire engulfed home

Louisville Police

BODY RECOVERED IN FIRE
Police on patrol noticed smoke and fire coming from a house on the 700 block of Club Circle just before 2 a.m. Feb. 6 and alerted the fire department. When the first engine arrived, the house was engulfed in flames. When firefighters were able to extinguish the fire enough to enter the house, they found the body of David Ryan on the floor behind the front door. Investigators believe the fire that killed the California man started in the kitchen, possibly at a gas range. The cause of the blaze will be ruled accidental, according to a preliminary report by George Codding, Louisville fire investigator. No evidence of arson was found at the scene of the fire, which took firefighters 45 minutes to get under control. Determining the cause of Ryan's death is the responsibility of the Boulder County Coroner. Firefighters want to remind citizens that heavy smoke in a building is extremely dangerous and typically contains high concentrations of carbon monoxide that can quickly incapacitate a person. People staying in hotels and unfamiliar houses should familiarize themselves with safety exits.

TRESPASSING LEADS TO SUMMONS
An 18-year-old Superior man was arrested at approximately 6:44 p.m. Feb. 8 at Parkview Street and County Road. Police received a call about a possible burglary-in-progress. The reporting party said he saw three males exit a vehicle and prowl around his neighbor's house, which is under construction. He then saw flashlights on in the house. The males were contacted in a car nearby. One of them said he heard the house was "creepy" and they wanted to check it out for themselves. The homeowner, who lives nearby, said he'd soon put locks and doors on the house to avoid future incidences. Only one of the males was issued a summons after being taken to the Louisville Police Department.

MODEL ROCKET CATCHES FIRE
A 49-year-old Louisville man was issued a summons at approximately 1:20 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Davidson Mesa Trail Head. Police responded to a grass fire and when they arrived, they found a 50-foot open space area that had been burned and flames spreading toward residences on Enclave Circle before the fire was extinguished. A man and a boy had been shooting off a model rocket when the rocket caught fire. The man had tried to put out the fire with his jacket to no avail and was remorseful about the incident.
