Blotter: V-Day prank targets neighbors

Louisville Police

MAN LIES TO PRACTICAL JOKER, NOT POLICE
A 48-year-old Westminster man was issued a summons on suspicion of a hit-and-run accident and failure to provide proof of insurance. At approximately 10:48 a.m. Feb. 2, police were dispatched to Wells Fargo Bank, 1137 S. Boulder Road, after a man backed into another car in the parking lot, causing slight paint damage and driving off. The reporting party said he made eye contact with the driver and motioned for him to park so he could get his information. The driver waited long enough for the reporting party to get out of his car and then drove off. The reporting party wrote down the driver's license plate number and police tracked the man down and contacted the suspect over the phone. The man said he was in Denver and wasn't at the bank. The man said someone else was driving his car, but he couldn't say who was driving it. When the man came to the police station at a later date at the police officer's request, police asked if he didn't see the car. The man said he didn't think he was in an accident, to which the officer responded, "So you were at the bank on that date." The man said he was and said he lied because he thought it was a practical joker calling him and not the police. He was issued a summons.

V-DAY PRANK TARGETS NEIGHBORS
At 2:58 p.m. Feb. 15, police were dispatched to the 140 block of Fairfield Lane on a report of a note in the mailbox of the reporting party that read, "I wanna bang you" in pink and purple writing. Two of the woman's neighbors received the same note on Valentine's Day. The woman said there were other strange incidences at her house within the past six weeks. She'd previously heard footsteps on her front porch and had been receiving hang-up calls at the same time every two or three nights. Police said they would increase patrol in the area.

BURGLAR TRIES TO PRY INTO SAFE
Police were dispatched at 12:45 p.m. Feb. 12 to the WinterSkate Rink, 824 Front St., on a cold burglary call. The owner said the safe was damaged and it appeared someone had tried to gain entry. There were obvious pry marks on the safe. No money was missing and the owner did not suspect any employees or former employees of stealing the money. There also were no suspects at the time of this report.
