People who inspire me (and how): Hero
Robert Redford if that helps; very acitve positive people who realize that we have many challenges ahead and we will tackle them with time and effort.
How I have contributed to the community: Currently serving as a council member in Louisville. Served on our Resource Conservation Board and Transportation Task Force. Liason to Senior Advisory Board and Horticultural Board.
The biggest issues facing Louisville now: Addressing the change we are going to see in our population. In Louisville our Senior population will continue to grow. We are seeing less federal monies via county grants to support Senior programs. We need to work on increasing our tax base to support these programs.
Why I am running: Lousiville has challenges ahead of us mostly due to our present sales tax situation and the fact that is will cost us more every year to provide services that our citizens desire. We are in a long term redevelopment environment with the advent of the Fastracs station near Old Town Louisville. Public improvements will be needed where RTD has limited fundiing and Louisville must come up with difference if we want connectivity betweenDowntown and our Hwy 42 redevelopement area. There are also older shopping plazas that need redevelopement in Louisville. I have heard from many citizens that they do not want a dead Crossroads in Louisville that sits empty for years beforereinvestment happens. This is where a private-public partnership must exist in order tobring about a sucessful project(s).
