Monarch's playoff drive stopped short
Contributed by: Brendan Harrington/YourHub.com on 2/23/2006

Monarch High School lost to Highlands Ranch 58-55 in the opening round of the state 5A boy's basketball tournament Feb. 22 at Denver East High School.
It was a close game all the way, with the fifth seed Coyotes trailing by one point at halftime. Monarch (16-6) kept it close until late in the game.
The halftime arrival of dozens of Highlands Ranch fans swung momentum in favor of the Falcons, as their emotion dominated the gymnasium. The pro-Falcon chants trounced the uniformed cheerleaders from Monarch, providing a strong home-court feel for Ranch.
Highlands Ranch (7-17) advances to play Chatfield in second round action Friday, Feb. 24 at Denver East High School while Monarch finishes the year at 16-6, graduating four of their varsity players.
