I don't like having a lot of hair.
Every couple of weeks I make sure my wife cuts my hair with a $35 pair of barber clippers that has probably saved us more than $250 since we bought it. A nice 3-3 and a half all the way around.
My distaste for hair stems from middle and high school, when hair started to be something I actually paid attention to. After taking a shower, I'd spend 10 minutes trying to get it the way I wanted it to look (which is ironic, since I tended to be at least 10 minutes late for school every day) and by noon it was a big mess on my head.
I have two hypotheses for these reasons: First is because I can't not run my hands through my hair when it gets long. Second is because I tried sylting my hair in a way contrary to its long, thick curviness.
During the summer between my junior and senior year of high school, I shaved it damn near off as I was going to spend a month in Honduras with friends.
The best part was not having to worry about it. I think my scholastic years would have been much less stressful if I had just shaved it off (or at least kept it pretty damn short - which I've pretty much done since then.)
One unfortunate side effect of having my hair so short is that I look apparently look like a skinhead when its short. Or even more like a serial killer than with lots of hair. Don't take my opinion for granted - ask my mom or wife.
Well, after keeping it short for pretty much the last five years, it's gotten long. And intentionally.
I've used my hatred of hair as motivation for losing weight. Until I drop 10 pounds (to 180), I can't cut my hair. Thus the predicament I'm in now, as you can see with my hair.

See, you look great smiling! Hey, maybe we can pull together and try to lose 10 pounds. Team motivation helps. Go Wyoming.

Hey, if you're lucky, maybe you'll go bald in your mid- to late-30s.

I'm glad your wife cuts your hair for you and that you're comfortable letting her do it. I used to trim my mom's hair with a cheap razor and sewing scissors. Yup, odd combo, but she looked fabulous nonetheless.

Maybe if you weren't "sylting" your hair, you wouldn't have so much trouble. Also, using hair as motivation to weight loss is a great idea. I love a full head of hair, but maybe I'll keep a buzzcut until I lose 20 pounds.

I'm thinking of returning to full on shaved head. The skinhead thing used to be more trouble when I just looked so perpetually angry and dressed a little differently.

I did think it looked fluffier than usual, but I though perhaps it was a new shampoo.

I'm with you. I have two hairstyles: 1/2 inch (when I'm looking for a job) and "growing out" (when I have a job). I'm starting to despise hair again.
