HubCap: It's fall again.
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 10/3/2006

You've probably noticed the sights and sounds of fall again: People are wearing blue and orange clothing on Sundays, your kids are off your couch and back in class, and you're not sweating as much when you leave the house. The leaves on the trees are changing to yellow, orange and red, and soon you'll be raking them into giant plastic bags to get them off your lawn. The Rockies' season is over, and Barry Bonds' team failed to make the playoffs once again. The air is a bit cooler and you've jumped the gun at least once, putting on that new sweater in the morning but taking it off by the afternoon. You've begun shutting your windows at night. When you go out to eat, there's a football game on the restaurant's TVs, no matter what night it is. Your cable company has decided to give you six free months of service, as well as send the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders over to your house to help you grill some brats.

Whoa! What?

OK, I just threw that one in there to see if you were paying attention. What does fall mean around here at YourHub.com? Well, things like cute dogs with yellow leaves stuck in their teeth, as captured by Jackie Treece, of Littleton.

Or old ghost stories, like Kevin Murcray's, about the mysterious sound of a shovel digging in the creekbed by his house.

Or hunting season, like Leonard "Sarge" Avery, of Northglenn, reminisces about: the first time he (legally) cleaned and kept a roadkilled elk on I-70.

Or, as Ann Himel, of Littleton, puts it, the countdown to Halloween, which means tons of small candy bars, and a look forward to Thanksgiving, which means pumpkin pie. As Ann says: " Reese's, Butterfinger, Twix, SweetTarts, Milk Duds, Pixie Stix (the small ones packaged in paper, not the big plastic ones), Hershey's Miniatures in all varieties - O, rapture!"

What does fall mean to you? I recommend taking some photos of your dogs or kids playing in piles of leaves and posting them here. Or photos of your kids playing football and volleyball, or hunting with Grandpa, or rooting for the Broncos. We're not really picky around here. Give me a call at 303-954-2492 if you need some help getting started.
