The Summer Reading Program is over for 2009. This summer 3,399 children signed up for the program at the Montbello Branch Library. All children who completed the Summer Reading Program received prizes throughout the summer (Colorado Rockies cinch bags, Elitch tickets, and/or books or journals).
This week, names were drawn from amongst all the children who finished the Summer Reading Program, to determine the winners of various prizes. We had several winners at the Montbello Branch Library.
Esmeralda Martinez, age 11, was one of two students throughout Denver to win a Dell Computer from the Summer Reading Program. She will receive her computer at a special ceremony downtown at the end of the month. Congratulations, Esmeralda! This will be a big help with schoolwork.
Another winner was Tanne Palencia, age 2, who won passes for her family to go to the Denver Children's Museum. Haley Valdez, age 7, and Pablo Guevara, age 6, won tickets to the Denver Zoo for their families. Kassandra Lara, age 16, and Abraham Solano, age 11, won I-Pod Shuffles.
It was an exciting summer of reading, prizes, craft programs, professional performers, gaming, and other fun. We'll do this all again next summer from late May through August 8. Thank you to the thousands of parents in the Montbello area who encouraged their children to do this, and the many parents who read with their children.
