Contributed by: Julie Patterson on 1/23/2008

Enjoy a colorful Chinese New Year celebration from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Aurora History Museum when the Denver Chinese Cultural Center presents traditional folk dances, crafts and customs in celebration of the holiday.

Activities will include students from Christina Yeh Dance Studio performing the silver plate and fan dances, and a storyteller discussing the ancient art of Feng Shui.

Volunteers from the Denver Chinese Cultural Center will provide hands-on activities for children, including creating a Chinese scroll, discovering the 12 Animals of the Chinese calendar, learning Chinese knotting and writing Chinese calligraphy. Each child will receive a red envelope for good luck in the New Year.

The cost is $5 ($4 Aurora residents). To register in advance, call 303-326-8650.
