Free trash disposal day for Adams County residents
Contributed by: Adams County on 5/7/2008

Adams County, Commerce City and Allied Waste Services will provide a free trash disposal day for all Adams County residents on Saturday, May 10, 2008, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tower Road Landfill. The landfill is located at 88th Avenue and Tower Road.

The landfill disposal charge for cars, pick-ups or pick-up-sized trailers (5 cubic yards) will be waived for county residents and Allied Waste will pay all state and local fees. All loads must be covered or tarped to prevent trash from blowing out. All residents are encouraged to participate in this semi-annual event. Residency will be determined by a valid driver's license or tax statement.

Certain limitations apply due to state and federal regulations:

Appliances containing refrigerants (air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators, etc.) must possess a certification of CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) removal by a certified EPA technician prior to disposal. Those without certification cannot be accepted for disposal.

Uncovered loads will be charged double the regular gate rate.

Tires will not be accepted for disposal.

No hazardous materials or liquids will be accepted. These substances should be discarded during household chemical collection events held by Adams County and its cities. Household Chemical Roundups for 2008 are scheduled for Saturday, June 28 and Saturday, September 13.

For more information on the chemical roundups, please call 303.846.6249.

For information on free trash disposal day, please contact the Adams County Planning & Development Department at 303.453.8800 or Allied Waste Services at 303.371.2887.
