DENVER CELEBS TO DON CREATIVE CATWALK DESIGNS
DURING 'BASH AT THE BIZ'

Nov. 5 fashion fete to benefit Denver's Youthbiz, Inc.

DENVER, NOV. 1, 2009
-Local leaders and celebrities will help to shine the spotlight on the programs of YouthBiz, Inc. and fuel the academic and business aspirations of Denver's youth at the second annual Bash at the Biz fashion show fundraiser. BASH takes place on Thurs., Nov. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. (VIP reception 5pm), at Mile High Station (located at 2027 West Lower Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80204).

Denver's own Brandi Shigley, mastermind of Fashion Denver, will introduce creative catwalk designs donned by local luminaries, such as: Polly Baca, first woman of color ever elected to the Colorado State Senate; Ervin Johnson and Walter Davis, Former Denver Nuggets; Megan Yarberry, Mrs. Colorado 2009; Jonella Roath, Mrs. Denver of 2009; and Ratha Sok and Bimmer Torrez of 2Kool Productions, young business owners and alumnae of YouthBiz programs. Students who participate in YouthBiz's innovative and enriching after-school programs will strut their stuff alongside the local celebrities.
The soulful rhythms of DJ Japadapta will accompany the stylings of several of Denver's hottest designers.

In addition to the fashion show, guests will be able to snap pics in Booth66's full-size photo booth, vote for their favorite youth designed t-shirt design and feast on everything from gourmet mac-n-cheese to cheesecake lollipops from Occasions by Sandy.

All proceeds benefit YouthBiz, which provides innovative after-school and summer programs that work to advance the social and economic empowerment of youth through a focus on business, academics and leadership. During 1992's "Summer of Violence", eight inner-city teens and a local leader came together to start an organization that would teach job and life skills to youth from some of Denver's most underserved communities. In the seventeen years since, YouthBiz has served over 3,000 youth through programs that leave a lasting impact not just on these individuals, but their families and the larger community.
