What do you get when you have sloppy play mixed in with questionable coaching? An 18 to 12 overtime victory for the East Angles against the Aurora Central Trojans at East High School.
Angles quarterback Trevone Purifoy scored on a quarterback sneak in the first overtime to clinch the victory but it wasn't without controversy.
Late in the 4th quarter, East Wide Receiver Justin Holden caught a touchdown pass from Purifoy, but Holden clearly pushed off of the Trojans Defensive Back which wasn't called by the officials.
Aurora Central would have never been in the position if they would have knelt on the ball and ran out the clock after stopping East on the previous possession. The Trojan coaching staff decided to run the ball instead and gave the ball back to the Angles on a fumble even though East only had one timeout with 1:25 left in the game.
In the first overtime Angles Linebacker Jeremiah Holloway intercepted the ball to give East the possession.
Aurora Central Running Back Larry Poledor scored two rushing touchdowns. East Fullback Richard Hicks scored one rushing touchdown.
