Snowboarding comes to the inner-city
Contributed by: Narcy Jackson on 1/22/2008

This past Saturday, Jan. 19, Athletics & Beyond introduced snowboarding for over thirty young men and women from the Green Valley Ranch Montbello community. Denver Parks and Recreation, SOS Outreach and Winter Park supplied several at-risk young adults with plenty of outdoor activities and festivities at the Ruby Hill RailYard.

Ski and ride classes are taught by ski company instructors, and kids were given equipment and clothing so they could participate all for free. This was a great opportunity to introduce something new to kids who have not been afforded the opportunity to visit a ski resort or participate in such an event.

A & B plans to continue to work with SOS Outreach in the near future and take more young men and women from the inner-city to a resort to experience the great outdoors.

Continue to visit www.athleticsandbeyond.com for more details about future clinics and workshops. Our next scheduled clinic will be for baseball at Montbello High School.Details coming soon.
