Building community partnerships for our youth
Contributed by: Narcy Jackson on 3/31/2008

We are proud to say our community is starting to build several partnerships and combine resources to give our kids opportunities. The 2008 H.S. Development Basketball Clinic was a huge success allowing us to touch the lives of over 50 young men and women from the Montbello, Green Valley Ranch, East Denver and Aurora communities. Montbello High School head coach David Carey facilitated drills and life skills talks with our kids.

Key points of clinic;

· Joel G - University of Denver Division 1 college requirements.

· Kim D - Career options presentation about the sports retail business.

· Nikkie Weddle - Life skills and basketball

· Denver Nuggets Community Ambassador Mark Randall - life beyond basketball.

· Coach Rudy Carey - requirements to play high school basketball

· Drills lead by Montbello coaches and players leading by example.

The kids in our community along with parental support is a key component to our program and we commend and thank all of you for you're on going participation in various clinics and workshops sponsored by Athletics & Beyond.

Special thanks, to coach David Carey and the Montbello High School basketball program, staff and players. Their precious time and commitment to our community is huge and the key to our future.

Activities we have planned for the rest of April is a Snowboarding trip to Vail, Colorado and a soccer clinic for the Montbello Pandas. We will have our third annual Youth Contact Football Clinic in July.

Please visit us at www.athleticsandbeyond.com for updates and information on clinics and workshops.
