MACS-Mission Aurora Colorado Swimming, an Aurora-based USA swim team, had a stellar week at the Speedo Junior National Championships last week in Minneapolis, Minn. Five MACS swimmers qualified for this premier event for 18 and under U.S. swimmers held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
Leading the MACS swimmers was
Bonnie Brandon, who posted a second-place finish in the 200 meter backstroke with a time of 2:14.46. Brandon also finished ninth in the 1500 meter freestyle (16:54.45) , 19th in the 800 meter freestyle (8:55.72), and had top 100 finishes in the 400 meter freestyle, 100 meter backstroke, and 400 meter individual medley.
Loren Brandon had a strong showing in the distance events, with a tenth-place finish (16:54.80) in the 1500 meter freestyle and coming in 34th in the 800 meter freestyle (9:01.05). The remaining MACS teamates all posted top 100 finishes including
Jana Ruimerman (39th 200 meter backstroke and 59th 400 meter individual medley),
Lauren Stoeckle (62nd 200 breastroke, 81st 100 meter breastroke), and
Mikella Zgliczynska (57th in the 1500 meter freestyle).
