At least once a year, I notice all the clothes in my closet have gone bad.
They are stained, ripped, shrunken, missing buttons, or just downright all-of-the-sudden
fugly
beyond belief.
It could be just that I'm taking stock during an off mood, but sometimes the closet -- much like the fridge -- needs to be cleaned out because the rank metaphorical stench that sweater is putting off is killing me.
Unfortunately, replacing clothing is not as budget-friendly as say, buying a new bag of carrots.
So I tend to just push the unsavory bits to the back until such time they are either not as offensive or I am ready to passionlessly donate them to
Goodwill
.
This morning I faced a familiar fashion struggle. As the days lately feel of summer -- the mornings are cool; winter sweaters are too much, but a girl still needs a wrap.
Sigh. Nothing works.
Not to mention, everything hanging, stacked or stuffed in drawers seemed so stale.
As the clock ticked and I sensed my bus getting ever closer to my stop, I knew I had to hurry up and get out the door in something other than the loud polka-dot PJs.
When in doubt, or when I don't feel like thinking about it, I normally choose from a small stash of comfy, non-descript -- definitely not fashionable -- stand-bys.
And sadly, today's selection, my favorite shirt (boring, blue oxford cloth -- how comfy you are! How I love not ironing you and wearing you to work anyway!) has an armpit seam tear. How sad.
How very sad indeed.
