The Summer Strings Workshop, sponsored by the South Jeffco Youth Orchestra, is open to all intermediate to advanced players of violin, viola, cello and double bass who are interested in a FUN chamber orchestra workshop. As a participant, you will meet string players from around the metropolitan area, learn valuable techniques and, as the finale, you will perform in an outdoor concert.
The two-day session, to be held in the Heritage Square Victorian House, located in Heritage Square at 18301 U.S. Highway 40, Golden, begins on Monday, August 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Strings Workshop continues on Tuesday, August 5 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m, closing with an outdoor Chamber Orchestra Concert. Be prepared to play music by Bach, Mozart, Monti, Grieg and MacMaster. Music is available for you now. And there are solo opportunities as well.
The faculty includes Frank Fyock, Conductor, a 20 year veteran teacher, Denver School of the Arts Music Director; Tyson Ailshie, low strings, Music Professor at Front Range Community College and Arapahoe Community College; Paula Ailshie, high strings. Strings teacher for 13 years , SJYO mentor, professional violinist; Karen Hamm, administrator, violinist Jefferson Symphony Orchestra, SJYO mentor. These faculty members of the South Jeffco Youth Orchestra are musicians, teachers and mentors who will provide valuable techniques to enhance your musical skills in this intensive Strings Workshop.
The fee for the Workshop is $75, due when your application is submitted by the deadline of July 25.
