If Denver and Surrounding Area High School students are looking for an adventure, a challenge and an awesome entry on their college resume, they need look no further than Youth In Action. The program, started by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), was created to reduce underage drinking by limiting social and retail availability of alcohol for anyone under the age of 21 and to support the enforcement of underage drinking laws.
Young people across the nation are being trained as activists and learning how to help limit the availability of alcohol to their peers. Teens work with the law enforcement community and hold adults accountable for the role they play in providing alcohol to anyone under that age of 21.
Youth In Action is a nationwide program with five core projects that seek to train teens to become agents of change in their communities. Instead of creating programs and messages for their peers, YIA team members are able to take a leadership role in partnering with adults to hold the entire community accountable for preventing underage drinking.
Youth In Action Projects are comprised of a variety of fun activities including, but not limited to: Compliance Checks, Shoulder Tap Surveys, Law Enforcement Recognition Events, Ride Alongs, Roll Call Briefings, Sobriety Check Point Assistance, Community Awareness Events, becoming certified Protecting You, Protecting Me program facilitators, Retreats, and more!!!!
