Jeffco Schools earn academic performance awards

The Colorado Department of Education has given 19 Jefferson County Public Schools "John Irwin School of Excellence" awards for ranking in the top 8 percent of state schools in overall academic performance based on the 2006 School Accountability Reports.

The John Irwin Award, named after a former state legislator, is part of the Colorado School Awards Program created in the 2000 by the Colorado General Assembly to recognize the highest-performing and most-improved public schools in the state, as determined by the School Accountability Reports. Schools receiving the awards will be recognized by the Jefferson County Board of Education at its regular business meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the district's Education Center, 1829 Denver West Dr. #27, Golden, CO.
