Jeffco Public Schools disposes of recalled meat


Jeffco Public Schools disposed of nearly 400 cases of recalled meat supplied from the Chino, Calif.-based Westland/Hallmark Meat Company on the morning of Feb. 28.

The meat was disposed of at a Jeffco Schools' storage warehouse located on Quail Street in Lakewood. The cases of meat were thrown into dumpsters.

On Feb. 17, the U.S. Department of Agriculture recalled 143 million pounds of frozen beef from Westland/Hallmark Co., which supplies meat to the federal school lunch program.
