The sky's the limit for area youth in CAP

If your son or daughter lives in the Littleton area, they're 12 to 18 years old and would like to expand their horizons then the sky's the limit with the Civil Air Patrol! If you think your child or grandchild is interested in flying a plane, launching a rocket, searching for lost aircraft and missing people, assisting their community and developing leadership skills while staying physically fit then you and the young people in your life should consider attending the local Dakota Ridge Civil Air Patrol Squadron's Open House on Monday, September 15th at 7:00pm at Waterstone Community Church 5690 S. Alkire Street off of West Bowles & C470 in Littleton.

The Civil Air Patrol is a nonprofit organization and auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force made up of volunteers age 12 and beyond who enjoy aerospace and aviation activities, emergency services, and leadership development opportunities. Similar to the Boy and Girl Scouts, CAP fosters individual achievement with an ongoing award and recognition program, promotes teamwork and socialization skills and encourages leadership in young men and women who work together within one organization. CAP cadets go on to excel in all walks of life and many receive college scholarships, appointments to U.S. Service Academies or leadership opportunities in their chosen careers.

Cadet and Senior members of the Dakota Ridge squadron regularly participate in powered and glider aircraft orientation flights, model rocketry, communication training, emergency services and disaster relief training including CPR, First Aid, navigation and survival, physical fitness, leadership classes, field trips to museums and aerospace activities, search and rescue training and actively volunteer to participate and assist at community events. Opportunities exist for national and international travel, flight training and aerospace career exploration. Truly, the sky's the limit!

If you'd like to learn more about the Civil Air Patrol please visit the Dakota Ridge squadron during their Open House on September 15th from 7:00-9:00pm at Waterstone Community Church. If you're unable to make it to the Open House and are interested in learning more, you can visit the squadron during their weekly Monday night meetings from 7:00-9:00pm at Waterstone Church or contact the squadron's commander, Major. Chuck Sellers at 303 919-6649 or cmsellers007@yahoo.com or call Major Mike Daniels, CAP COWG Group 1 Public Affairs Officer at 303 838-3884 or MikeDaniels@Hughes.net.
