LANCE ARMSTRONG - CANCER SURVIVOR AND SEVEN-TIME TOUR DE FRANCE WINNER TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT INAUGURAL KIDS ON BIKES FUNDRAISING CELEBRATION
AUGUST 9

Tickets are now on sale for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to hear living legend and seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong detail his inspirational story in person. On Thursday, August 9, Armstrong will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural fundraising celebration to support Kids on Bikes, a local nonprofit dedicated to making the dream of owning a bike-and the freedom and hope that come with it-a reality for deserving children in Colorado Springs.

The event at The Broadmoor Hall in Colorado Springs starts at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner and an introduction to Armstrong's address by his longtime personal cycling coach, Chris Carmichael of Carmichael Training Systems. Individual tickets for the celebration are available for $150 and tables of 10 can be purchased for $1,500. Sponsorships opportunities, starting at $5,000, are also still available. Sponsors will not only attend the gala dinner, but also have the chance to participate in an exclusive VIP reception with Armstrong. Tickets and additional information are available at www.KidsOnBikes.net.

Armstrong, a cancer survivor, active philanthropist and champion cyclist, will talk about his own life challenges, how cycling and fitness can be crucial components to developing confidence in youngsters, and about the LIVE STRONG movement, part of the Lance Armstrong Foundation that unites people in the fight against cancer.

"We are so excited that Lance wants to be a part of this very special evening and can't wait to introduce the entire community to all of the great things Kids on Bikes is doing in Colorado Springs," said Kids on Bikes founder and president Paige Carmichael. "There is no greater childhood thrill than owning a bike for the first time and experiencing the freedom and hope that those two wheels provide. We are dedicated to putting a bike in the hands of every child, regardless of financial resources, to see just how far they can go."

Sponsors of the fundraising event include Comcast, The Gazette, Citadel Broadcasting, El Pomar Foundation, Andrew & Sydney Davis, Gay & Lesbian Fund, G.E. Johnson, Colorado Cyclist, Boatz Knutsen, Pikes Peak Community Foundation and Don Jones Photography.

About Kids on Bikes

Paige Carmichael founded Kids on Bikes, Inc. in 2003. Through several different programs, including the P.E.D.A.L. program that works in association with local child advocacy groups and the ABC incentive program that works with local schools, children have the opportunity to earn their own bike, helmet and lock pack. In addition, the Build-A-Bike program engages local businesses in a team building exercise where employees harness their team spirit and cooperation to assemble new bikes. The bikes are then donated to children through the Kids on Bikes program. To date these programs have donated a combined 316 bikes to deserving boys and girls throughout Colorado Springs.
