Original benches at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, installed for the venue's opening in 1941, have deteriorated over the course of the last 60 years. Made of old-growth Redwood lumber, it is impossible to replace the benches using the same material, and the old benches are being replaced with a Brazilian lumber called Ipé ("e-pay"), a pest and fire-resistant type of wood that is grown and harvested through the ecologically-friendly practice of sustainable yield forestry. Many of the old Redwood benches can be reused and are currently available to the public through a City and County of Denver surplus property online auction, similar to those held on eBay.
WHAT: 28 pieces of original old-growth Redwood benches from Red Rocks Amphitheatre
(Other City auction items include iPods, Digital Cameras, Camcorders, Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones, Portable DVD Players, Nintendo DS, Sony Playstation Portable, and Sony Playstation 2.)
WHEN: Now through Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 5 p.m.
WHERE:
www.success-auctions-online.com
TERMS: Visa/MasterCard/Discover only. A 10% Buyer's Premium will be added to the winning bid price of each item (up to $500 per item). City and County of Denver sales tax will be added to the final amount of each item, unless a tax-exempt certificate is on file with the Auctioneer prior to the sale.
REMOVAL: Monday, July 21 - Friday, July 25, 2008 from 9 AM - 4 PM
No shipping is available; buyer is responsible for all facets of removal.
Electronics are located at: 201 W. Colfax Ave, 11th Floor, Denver, CO 80202.
Red Rocks benches are located at: 4120 Brighton Blvd, Door A-4, Denver, CO 80216.
The City and County of Denver reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to add to or remove items currently scheduled to be auctioned. All items will be sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" with no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied.
