Murder victim found in Morrison identified
Contributed by: Jeffco Sheriff's Office on 8/6/2007

On July 23, 2007, Jeffco investigators began investigating the murder of an adult male whose body was found by a realtor at a home for saleon the 8400 block of Scenic Drive. For a number of days investigators were unable to ascertain the identity of the victim, making it difficult to launch a thorough investigation into his death. On Aug. 3, investigators received a break in the case after obtaining positive identification of the victim through fingerprint analysis. The homicide victim has been identified as Robert Alurac (dob 101965), a former resident of Lakewood. In short order, investigators began interviewing acquaintances of the victim and executed three separate search warrants in the metro area. On Aug. 4, sheriff's investigators utilized the Douglas County SWAT team to execute a high-risk search warrant at the Super 8 Motel in Parker. During the operation, SWAT team members were confronted by an adult male who threatened them with a firearm. The man was subsequently shot and killed by law enforcement. The deceased male was "a person of interest" in the homicide investigation on Scenic Drive.

Investigators continue to conduct interviews and process evidence found during the execution of the search warrants. Investigators have become increasingly concerned about the whereabouts and welfare of a woman who has become associated with the investigation. The woman's name is Colleen Kay Barrett (dob 071461), she is the girlfriend of Robert Alurac. (see attached photos) Investigators have entered Colleen Barrett's name in the law enforcement computer as a missing person. Barrett is described as a white female, 5'2" tall, 130 lbs., brown hair & blue eyes. Barrett has been missing since July 18, nearly the same time frame that Alurac was murdered.

Anyone with information concerning Robert Alurac or Colleen Barrett is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's tip line at 303-271-5612.
